Nintendo recently announced the unlikely crossover of the Nobunaga’s Ambition series with the GameFreak’s own monster-snatching phenomenon, Pokémon. The unlikely crossover announcement was accompanied by screenshots that looked even more unlikely. Feudal Japanese Warlords tossing about Pokéballs and riding bikes through all grass seems just a little too silly to believe; so imagine everyone’s surprise when it started shaping up to look like a decent game. The revealed Pokémon Conquest has some pretty interesting features, and will be releasing on June 18th on a North American DS near you.

With the Christmas rush of games over, the 3DS’ release calendar is beginning to slow down. After hints of a new 2D Mario game by Iwata in January, it may have been revealed as Super Mario 4. Miyamoto also opens up about some possible Wii U games that missed series instalments on the Wii, mostly a new F-Zero. Also, Pandora’s Tower has been released in Europe and Australia.

For gamers like myself, annual conventions like PAX East are what major events like the Superbowl and World Series are to sports fans: must-see spectacles filled with excitement, energy, and a whole lot of people. Earlier years saw PAX East being held in smaller venues around the greater Boston area, sometimes causing it to be sold out days before it even started. This year however, PAX East managed to relocate to the spacious Boston Conventions and Exhibitions Center (or BCEC) and I managed to snag a pass for the convention’s third and final day.
