As we come to the inevitable end of this console generation, it can be a time to reflect back on where each company made their mistakes. Many have attributed the slow start of the PS3 to the lack of strong exclusives and unwillingness of the public to adopt Blu-Ray. Fast forward to 2009 and many were predicting that Sony would not only catchup, but over take the sales of the Xbox 360. Sony continued to employ strategies like price cuts and the more frequent release of new exclusives, but the sales never over took their main competitor. Not only have Sony had to remain in third place for the entire generation, but they have been posting continual annual losses, with this year's being a particularly large hit to the company.

Many games are hoping to take the crown at Christmas this year. Condenters like Call of Duty, FIFA, Halo and Assassin's Creed will battle it out to take the top sales spot come November. However, new non-annual challengers have arrived such as Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, Hitman Absolution and Bioshock Infinite, games like these have been anticipated for over a year and have already won awards stated them as the titles to watch. However, one of those games won't make it to release this year, Irrational games have announced that Bioshock Infinite has been delayed until 2013.
EA have recently given a statement revealing what games could be on the cards for the next 12 months. According to EA we can expect to see the usual sporting titles, such as FIFA and Madden NFL, as well as the next Medal of Honour, Need for Speed and the highly anticipated Dead Space. Not too many details have been revealed about the former titles but the latter is receiving a lot of attention.
